the book of tears
from the haptic atolls suite of books
2014, single segment case bound codex,
relief prints (rainforest plywood and linocuts) on Awagami Kozo,
rainforest plywood, felt, 35 x 32 cm (open)
a series of four unique artists books and one artists proof book
These books are reliant on the readers participation for their resolution. Readers, at the invitation of the books owners, have the opportunity to make a tear in the pages of the book (or if you are a conservator a repair). The final state of the book is determined by the books owner. As a final exhibition of these artists books the artists plans to generate a series of silk screen prints based on opened folios from the books. Of all of the books Tim Mosely has shown at artists book fairs this series has attracted the greatest attention from the public.
